Hurricane Tara was a weak and short-lived tropical cyclone that formed in the Eastern Pacific Ocean in October 2018. It developed on October 14, intensified rapidly, and peaked as a Category 4 hurricane with winds of 140 mph, but it weakened quickly and dissipated on October 16. Although it did not make landfall, Tara generated high surf and heavy rain in several parts of western Mexico, causing flooding and landslides that resulted in at least two deaths. Tara was the twenty-second named storm and ninth hurricane of the 2018 Pacific hurricane season.
